Community-first
We started Herehood because art belongs in everyday life — not just in galleries. Local artists deserve audiences. Local businesses deserve beautiful spaces.
Mission
Herehood connects artists with display opportunities beyond galleries, helps businesses beautify their spaces with local art, and strengthens creative communities — all while operating under a binding Ethics Code and anti-superstar principles.
Our vision is a world where every neighbourhood is a living gallery, every business wall tells a local story, and every artist has fair access to display, connection, and opportunity — regardless of commercial appeal.
Revenue flows when real value is created — a sale, a service, a sponsored program, or a government grant. We take a 10% commission on artwork sales and offer paid services to businesses. No artist pays a listing fee or subscription. If no value is created, Herehood earns nothing. That is alignment.
Our story
Herehood grew from a simple conversation between a café owner with bare walls and a local artist with no place to show her work. They made it happen on their own — but they asked: how many others are in the same position, just lacking the connection?
The answer is thousands. Independent artists in communities everywhere are producing incredible work with limited access to affordable exhibition space. And thousands of small businesses — cafés, bookshops, yoga studios, hair salons — have walls that could tell so much more.
Herehood makes that connection happen at scale, equitably, and for free.
How it works
Discover
Artists browse wall spaces at local businesses. Businesses browse artists and their work. Both sides can search by suburb, style, or vibe — and both sides can reach out first.
Connect
Artists request to display their work in a space. Businesses accept, decline, or message directly. The conversation happens in the platform — no cold emails, no middlemen.
Display
Work goes up. People see it. Some fall in love and take it home. Some just enjoy it while they have their coffee. Both outcomes matter equally to us.
What we stand for
Community over commerce
Connections and displays matter as much as sales. We celebrate every display, every introduction, every new relationship — not just the transactions.
Fairness by design
We build structural mechanisms that prevent concentration, not just policies we hope everyone follows. The equity algorithm is not aspirational — it runs on every page.
Artist dignity
Artists are workers, not content. Their time and creativity have value. We will never ask them to work for exposure, lower their prices, or compete in ways that devalue their craft.
Transparency
Revenue, governance, and equity data are published openly every year. The community deserves to know that Herehood's success serves them.
Local first
Neighbourhoods and face-to-face relationships are the foundation. The work stays in the community that made it.
Generosity
Free core features are a permanent commitment, not a growth hack. A free account is a full account. That will not change.
